Singer Nicky Byrne has revealed mixed emotions at his first Christmas without his late granny, and first with newborn daughter Gia.
It was the third time presenting the Cheerios Childline concert on his own, but this year was extra special for Nicky Byrne as his baby daughter Gia was backstage to cheer him on.
Th Westlife star’s daughter marked her one month birthday yesterday, and Nicky and his wife Georgina brought her along to the show to celebrate.
“She’s the most beautiful little thing I’ve ever met,” he said.
“We’re absolutely delighted with her. She’s so placid and calm. We absolutely adore her and so do the boys.”
Nicky interviewed his former Westlife bandmate Shane Filan on stage after Shane performed for the first time at Childine as a solo act.
The 35-year-old said: “It was great because I haven’t seen Shane since I did Strictly Come Dancing. We’ve kept in touch but this was the first time we were on stage together again.”
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s Kian Egan won’t shy away from any disgusting Bush Tucker Trials, according to his former Westlife bandmate Nicky Byrne.
Kian entered the Australian jungle along with nine other celebrities at the weekend, hoping to be crowned the King of the Jungle 2013. So far, he hasn’t been chosen by the public for any challenges but Nicky says he won’t have any problem getting stuck into a nasty task if it comes his way.
“I think he’ll do well on the show as he won’t shirk away from anything put in front of him,” said Nicky during a chat with Ray D’Arcy on Irish radio station Today FM.
“I think with these kind of shows, especially I’m A Celebrity, people like to see the people crying and dying to do these kind of things but Kian will just get stuck in!”
As for whether Kian is naturally competitive, Nicky said: “Yes. Out of us all, probably me and Kian would have clashed a little bit with our competitiveness as I’m very competitive as well.”
When Kian was announced as an I’m A Celeb contestant for 2013, Nicky tweeted: “Wishing @KianEganWL the V best in his jungle ventures. Kangaroo anus? Not a bother to him! But reunion is a further yr away with those burps!”
Sadly, the reunion reference was just a joke as he told Today FM there were “absolutely” no plans to get Westlife back together any time soon. “I swear to God, sitting here now, there has never been a plan,” he said, although added that he knew other bands had done it very successfully.
“Take That left it ten years and came back… they took it up to the next stage, I suppose. They came back bigger than they ever were and did stadiums. I think it came down to a lot of nostalgia and their songs were very, very good. They took it to the next level. Boyzone came back and did it to the same level they were at when they broke up, which was still enormous.”
Former Westlife singer Nicky Byrne, who is recently announced he is working on a solo album, spoke to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTE’s Radio One this morning about the incredible love he feels for the new little lady in his life – daughter Gia. At just four weeks old, Gia is really the apple of her fathers eye and her two brothers, Jay and Rocco, who are now six-years-old.
“Little Gia is four weeks on Wednesday,” he said.
“She’s doing really well, she’s an adorable little girl. Absolutely beautiful. Very placid. She’s way different to the boys. I’m totally smitten – I fell in love all over again. She’s absolutely gorgeous and doing really well”
Speaking about Jay and Rocco’s reaction to a new baby in the house, the presenter said
“It’s amazing to see them coming in from school and rush over and give her a kiss.
“You kind of have to nearly to pull them frnom her, they’re smothering her that much but they absolutely love her,
“I get a real sense a satisfaction now when you try and wind her for ten minutes and then all of a sudden the burp comes and I’m like ‘yes, we did it”
The singer recently ruled out adding to their brood when talking to the Irish Mirror, saying:
“We feel incredibly lucky with the three we have so that’s us definitely done now.”
Nicky will present this years Cheerios Childline concert where former bandmate Shane Filan is expected to play.
Westlife star Nicky Byrne has got his hands full
He’s just become a dad for the third time and Nicky Byrne has admitted he and wife Georgina Ahern are not having any more children.
The former Westlife singer, 35, said he wants to focus on his career and is on track to become the Irish Robbie Williams.
Hot on the heels of ex-bandmate Shane Filan, the star has near completed his first solo album.
Nicky said: “I’ve four tracks recorded and seven written.
““I’ve been reluctant to talk about it but it’s happening. I’ve been really enjoying the process as there hasn’t been people on my back about deadlines.”
There’s a new theme on the site’s Twitter page. It was made by Eden Visuals. I really like it.
DOTING dad Nicky Byrne has brought his twin boys to meet their new little sister.
Dressed down in jeans and a black jacket, the Westlife singer turned out with six-year-old Rocco and Jay at Holles Street National Maternity Hospital yesterday to pay a visit to mother Georgina and baby Gia, who was born on Wednesday.
The happy family were joined by Miriam Ahern, who came bearing gifts for her new granddaughter.
“What I’ve noticed already is how much more gentle having a girl is, it’s just different,” Nicky (35) told Ryan Tubridy on 2FM.
“Every little touch of her hands and her foot, it’s different to a boy. We’re just delighted, it’s a very special gift and we’re absolutely buzzing at the moment.”
He also said that he and Georgina had been preparing the boys for Gia’s arrival.
“Slowly I had been prepping them. We didn’t want to tell them too quickly and put them all out of sorts.
“But they’ve gradually come around to the idea, and because it’s a girl they now know that they don’t need to share their toys and they’re very happy with that.
“And as older brothers, I’ve been secretly saying, ‘you’re going to have to look after her and protect her’ – giving them a little bit of responsibility. But they’re loving it.”
Georgina, who is the daughter of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, is expected to spend “two or three days” in hospital before returning to the family’s Malahide home.
“She’s coming around, obviously she spent the night there,” Nicky added. “The night went well and Gia took well to the feeding. So far, so good. There’s no complaints.”
He announced the news via his Twitter:
